My Story

Okay, my little novel thing has not been worked on in a while... Sorry! Mostly it is because the computer the revision is saved on is down, and may never be up and running again! But have no fear, I will most likely be working on it over the summer... hopefully.
Thank you so much for reading!

Prepare to Be Updated

Okay, since my adventures in Disneyland a lot has gone on.

First of all, Mattie updated her blog soooo check it out (link on sidebar)!

Let's see, this past week, I received my Young Women's Medallion and had a little open house in honor of my achievement. Aunt Leslie and the gang visited as well, we partied all weekend, so you have permission to be jealous! ;)

I also sang in church, went to school, performed for the soon-to-be 6th graders, and have another choir performance tomorrow.

This past Saturday, I had a piano recital. I've heard that I did awesome, but in my opinion, it was not my best work. I'll admit it was good, and that I have mad skillzzz, however I totally bombed the last chord and I think that ruined it. Oh well.

By the way, Erin's birthday is tomorrow!!!! She had a little sleepover celebration this weekend and continues to live up to her "regal" personality. Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIN! And Seth's birtday is coming up in June, same with my cousin Mattie's. ¡Feliz cumpleaƱos! to one and all.

Adios!!!

The Happiest Place on Earth

This past weekend I participated in the "Music in the Parks" competition in Disneyland. My school's choral program along with the advanced orchestra performed near Anaheim and earned superior ratings (the highest it can get) and 1st place trophies (excluding our Madrigal choir who earned 2nd place)!
We went against many schools some local (like Malibu Middle School) and some as far away as Pheniox, Arizona and Lake Havasu. It was a real treat to spend a Saturday at the Disneyland resort.
Now, I know what you've all been waiting for; pictures! Enjoy!
:)

The famous Disneyland Castle, where "a wish is a dream your heart makes."

The Endless Embassy Suites:)( where we stayed)

First Stop: Indiana Jones!

And of course, Tarzan's Tree House (yes, meant for 3 yr olds, but who can resist?).

Big Thunder Mtn. (a favorite of mine).

And while waiting for our Fast Pass time, a visit to Toon Town.

Where we enjoyed free air. :)

Lunch at Pizza Port. Deliciouso!

Then on to California Adventure (for the first time- very confusing place I might add..)

cool right?

Paradise Pier- and the amazing ferris wheel I did NOT get to ride on (45 min.  wait is WAY to long for a ferris wheel). :(

Tower of Terror- I survived! Twice!

GRR.

Their trash cans make me laugh.

And much much much much more! I would post more pictures, but it is very tedious to do so. Well, thanks for reading!

The Whole Poem

The honor poem I posted earlier wasn't exactly finished... I thought it was, but then I found that  I could use it for a school project.

It now ties in with the story of the Lost Boys of Sudan (and girls but mostly boys).  These boys trekked over a thousand miles to get away from the war in their country- until a refugee camp was created for them in Kakuma. Most of the young people saw their families slaughtered in front of their own eyes. They continue to live with these memories, but amazingly most of them are mentally stable. To learn more watch the documentary "God Grew Tired of Us" (this is the video I viewed in my geography class). I know the title may sound a little morbid, but the boys in the film are so lighthearted and full of a zest for life. And... Honor! Speaking of which, here is the full poem:

Honor in a box, Honor in a bag,

Honor on a shelf, honor with a tag.

Honor in a store, honor in a name.
Honor isn’t like that; it isn’t quite the same.

Honor can’t be purchased, but it does come with a price.
Honor must be earned, not given out like good advice.
Honor is received by the diligent and brave.
For the best at heart, true honor is saved.

Are you qualified for honor? Do you have what it takes?
Are you a hero to your neighbors- although you make mistakes?

Making a difference, changing the world
Causing a new vista to be unfurled.

Actions as such, are those of Panther and John.
They set an example for others to act upon.
The Lost Boys have it and you can too,
Honor is waiting, calling for you.

Give heed to my words, answer Honor’s cry;
Be your best, do your best, and it will help you fly.

Finding Honor

Honor in a box, honor in a bag,
Honor on a shelf, honor with a tag.
Honor in a store, honor in a name.
Honor isn't like that; it isn't quite the same.
Honor can't be purchased, but it does come with a price.
It must be earned; it isn't given like advice.

Honor is received by the diligent and brave.
For the best at heart, true honor is saved.

Are you qualified for honor? Do you have what it takes?
Are you a hero to your neighbors -although you make mistakes?
