It has been a LONG time since I've posted anything! But, I have a very valid excuse; I have been busy at girls' camp (Mom's ward) and Retreat For Girls!!! Also, we moved (at my Dad's house)! The summer has gone by really fast, with help from these events!
I guess I'll start with girls' camp. Okay, well being lucky little me, I get to go to girls' camp twice, since my parents are divorced and I am technically in two wards. So, my first girls' camp of the summer was with the Arroyo Grande ward, which is a name that clearly defines us. We had 29 young women! Though it may seem like a hassle to have so many girls to keep track of, it also gave us special privileges; such as extra canoeing time! Canoeing is probably the funnest thing we did. Even though we just sat in boats and paddled around a reservoir, it was still very exciting.
But, canoeing is not where the fun ended. Besides the usual certification stuff, we also did a service project (collecting unused cement bricks around camp) , zip line, flying squirrel (where you get harnessed on a rope attached to a tall tree and get pulled by the rest of the people in your group), and traded pins (which we made at mutual one night).
So, I guess I will move on to the next topic. Retreat for Girls. This was an awesome experience (and sooo worth the $400-that I paid half of.)! Retreat for Girls is similar to EFY and other things like that, except all of the participants are girls, hence the name.
Anyways, we stayed in the dorms and USU in Logan, UT for about 5 days. Within that time, I was able to make twelve new friends (everyone in my group, 3 of which happen to live in Las Vegas.), listen to several excellent speakers (John Bytheway, and Laurel Christensen among them), gain a stronger testimony, eat great food, and make lots of crafts.
So, I'll give you a little summary of our daily schedule. First, we have scripture study with our group, which consisted of two apartment/dorms (or 12 girls), and our counselor, whom we called Sport (they had funny little nicknames-we didn't know their real names until the last day). After that, we had breakfast and the Aggie Marketplace where students usually eat, but didn't this week since it was reserved for us. Following breakfast, we had 3 speakers, usually in one of the school's classrooms. Next, we had lunch outdoors, then had free time or a special activity, like lawn games (relay races, etc.) or a craft (necklace, bulletin board,etc.).
Then,we either congregated and had another presentation (we were able to see a play-put on by the counselors- about the parable of the 10 virgins, which was what our theme for the week was based on), or whatever. After all of those activities, we got ready for bed, had a nightly devotional, quiet time (read scriptures) and went to bed at 10:30 PM. Whew! Sounds like a lot to do, but it was super fun! Now, that wasn't a full report, but if you have any specific questions about anything, feel free to post a comment...
Okay, final event. This actually happened before both camp things, but I saved if for last, because I guess it's the most important; we moved! My family and my Dad's house and I, moved kind of around the corner, but still far enough to be in a new ward. The house is a little bit bigger (the same with our family, since Abby will need a room of her own someday), and a little cheaper I believe, than our old house. The backyard still needs a little work, but a house can't be perfect! I think the house is great! So, if you're interested, just come by and I'm sure Spencer would love to give you a tour. Just kidding!!! :)
Well, that's all for now, I'll be sure and post again next week!

So glad you've had a great summer. We're planning to come for Thanksgiving, so I hope you'll be there. We're calling it Thanksgismas since we'll do our Christmas gift exchange for our families! Fun, fun, fun!! It's weird to be thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas right now. But school is just 4 weeks away and it all happens so fast!
Keep smiling!
Leslie
